Correctly Format Your Syllabus
Attention Faculty and Preparers:
Whether creating, restoring or changing a course, faculty must supply preparers with an appropriately-formatted syllabus.
Format
Outline the course by week, date, or topic and include weighted grading criteria. Required reading should be explained with a reading list linked to weeks, dates or topics.
If you are:
- Creating a new course
- Restoring an old course
- Changing or adding consultation hours for an existing course
You must explain how consultation hours are implemented and monitored.
If you are:
- Creating a new course
- Restoring an old course
- Changing or adding noncontact hours for an existing course
You must describe course activities that do not involve faculty contact and explain how they are evaluated.

If your course uses distance education technologies, please describe the instructional arrangements.
